Which Are the Best Decentralized Search Engines?

Ever given thought to how it’ll feel to have power over search? More like to be able to surf the web with little to no worries about data security? If yes, you’re certainly not alone! But hey, let’s face it; centralized search engines are currently dominating the scene (all eyes on you Google). And of course, they never fail to call the shots when running a search or two. Yes, at this point, we’re talking about everything from recording your search data to spying on your IP address to using tracking cookies to increase their chances of targeting you with ads. The worst part? You can’t possibly opt out of this massive invasion of your privacy!

Decentralized search engine, search engine, decentralized

Any solution to these problems? Well, of course, there is! Just make a big switch to decentralized search engines. Yes, the moment you decentralize search, you’ll be able to enjoy increased privacy online and have better control over your data. In other words, you’ll no longer have to worry about trading your privacy for convenience (which is exactly what you’ve been doing for years).

Now, the next big question is, do we have decentralized search engines right now? Well, there are several different options to check out now. And as you probably expected, we’ve done our research and rounded up some of the best picks for 2018 and beyond.

Did you know that Google accounts for up to 77% of all web-based searches carried out around the world today? Yes, Google has long been the king of search — there’s absolutely no doubt about that. But interestingly, Presearch is one of the few companies that’s looking to spark a revolution and give power back to users. Essentially, Presearch is an open, decentralized search engine that uses its community to keep its platform up and running. In essence, its functionality is basically dependent on the people that actively use it to conduct day to day searches. So yes, with Presearch, you can find relevant results to your queries and worry less about intrusive ads. Perhaps another great thing about Presearch is that it rewards its users for their actions. In other words, you actually get paid to search! Presearch, for the most part, has tokens which are given users after they complete searches on its platform.

Moving forward, you’ll be happy to hear that you can create a free account on Presearch and start using its search tool right off the bat. As at the time of writing, the platform has more than 250,000 users. All in all, Presearch is a promising platform that’s totally worth checking out. Don’t hesitate to join if you’re ready to decentralize search and get paid while you’re at it.

Next in line is a platform that can be likened to an all-in-one package for your online endeavors. Bitclave, for the most part, is a decentralized search engine that’s looking to revolutionize the multi-billion online advertising industry. Yes, the platform aims to solve the problems of the industry and of course, take power from the hands of today’s advertising giants including Google and Facebook. As most of us already know, these big players usually come with the rules and never fail to take a huge cut of advertising revenue. But interestingly, BitClave has designed a solution that can deliver better outcomes for all parties including consumers and advertisers. Essentially, BitClave leverages the power of its BASE ecosystem to facilitate quick and easy connection between consumers and businesses. In other words, users won’t have to worry about the presence of a middleman like Google AdWords.

It’s also good to know that the platform comes with all the great and unique advantages of blockchain technology including higher data security, reduced transaction costs, and faster speeds. Finally, BitClave is geared towards users looking to enjoy the convenience of searching whatever tickles their fancy. And just so you know, BitClave also pays you for your actions.

Looking for trusted and decentralized resource for everything crypto? Well, just head straight to Desearch! First off, Desearch is basically a product of BitClave, but we figured that it needs its very own space. As a crypto-enthusiast, you’ll be happy to hear that this platform is home to whatever crypto information that holds your fancy. Yes, it’s actually as simple as typing a search term or query in the box and hitting the button. With DeSearch, users will get to find every information they need and of course, worry less about bumping into annoying ads. Essentially, the platform offers crypto-related news from relevant websites as well as those leading websites used in the blockchain space. That said, you or any other crypto enthusiast can use DeSearch to find promising ICOs, learn more about the best crypto exchanges or even check out great DApps and the likes. The possibilities are endless! Ready to give DeSearch a shot? Well, just hit the link above and you’re good to run a search on whatever crypto stuff that holds your fancy.

And that’s it! So far so good, we’ve explored some of the impressive blockchain innovations happening in search. Yes, we know that mainstream adoption is not going to be easy, but trust us, the revolution is sure to catch on. Just be sure to check out our top 3 picks and of course, keep your eyes peeled for future developments. Watch this space!

More search. At least some that can give Google a run. The sad thing is, and maybe not that sad, is that Google could just buy up a smaller company that has already done the hard work.

Hmm, there is a lot of search going on with Google and some smaller search engines, but what features would be needed for me to STOP using Google? I am not sure that would happen, especially when its built into Android phones.

Great write up. Thank you for suggesting these new search engines. I am always looking for new things to try and see what the “small” players are up to in each industry.

I am not going to lie. I have no idea how a decentralized search engine even makes sense. even after reading through this list, I am still not sure i understand it.

There is a lot to learn about blockchain and how it can make things easier, and better to use for the end user. I guess if you are a business serving the end user, you want the experience to be best.

PreSearch is a new concept to me. I would like to see how that plays out for the company trying to take on Google.
